The original Theerma ringtone is wonderful, I love this app!
If you want a pretty messenger, stick with the Messages app, Facebook, or maybe Signal - they’re all “secure”. If you want a secure messenger, get Threema. It sends messages securely from device to device, not user to user, so you need to think a bit differently about using it, but that difference in thinking is “this message is encrypted on my device and sent to that other device, which I’ve confirmed is the correct device by scanning its barcode”. This is handy (and one of my main uses) because you know that your snarky comment isn’t going to show up on your wife’s computer as she’s projecting her screen in the conference room at work. True device to device encryption, plus the company’s location in Switzerland with physical control over its servers, combines to make this a very secure messaging app. Even if you’re just using it to send snarky notes about employers, it’s worth the price.
On the security side the application is very well executed. On the messaging side there are a few features that would be desirable to have; The ability to quote a picture. Read receipts on messages in group chats (who in the group has seen your message). Mentions that work with chat muting for iOS like the Android version.
I am experiencing a bad experience when trying to send some pictures in this app. It get to long to sending, and mostly it failed, because i can not wait the pictures loading before close this app and move to another things i need to do on my phone. Please do something. I never tried video, but if pictures get that long, wondering how long the video will take
first rule: you get what you pay..so if its free its crap or screwed you by the T&C. i like to see more support for the apple watch so that u can actually write a new message without the use of an notification of an unreaded message by the phone from the watch.
Problem with both iOS and android phones is when someone calls, I see the alert, but do not get any audio alert that lets me know someone is calling. Aside from the above problem, great app.
My most used app. Not only sadder and secure but super user friendly and has all the bells and whistles of WhatsApp
I don’t understand why in an upgrade some time ago they took away the letters under the numbers (as on a telephone) and never put them back. For me this makes it harder to use because I remember letters more easily than numbers, hence I have to look up my password, hence I use less.
I love this app and all the privacy features it has to offer but I am blown away that it doesn’t have the option to users to choose or burn their messages (or conversations?!?) I’ll definitely give this app ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ if (once) it’s added! 😇
This app is great for secure messaging and anonymity. I wish this app used a in-app purchase model so it could be downloaded for free to increase the user base. They could then charge an in-app purchase for features like voice calling, group chat, or other features that could be limited but allow for basic secure messaging for new users. However, for being a paid app, it seems to lag in features compared to competing products. I hope they add or fix some of these items: - Perfect Forward Secrecy on the end to end layer - self destructing and deleting messages - video calling - allow the user to do other messaging while a call is in progress.
Having some issues with calling to another threema user it will ring sit on connecting and then disconnect. Work fine a couple times and had just stopped.
missing messages, the other person receive the notification but not the messages. happened couple times already. if is fixed l'll give 5 ⭐️
Love this app and its technical implementation!
Ever since the last update the voice message recording has a bug. It records super silently and you have to pretty much hold the speaker right to your ear to be able to understand. Even if the volume is all the way up. Please fix that issue! It's very annoying!
This is a very helpful app and I'm very glad it exists.
Arabic & Hebrew language support please & Thanks for the Voice calls
If there is a web app for Mac this would get a lot better, and compete with telegram.
I am using this app for 6 months now and it is the best ever,, easy, fast, full privacy and i can send anything so fast . Its better than kik which lags a lot specialy on sending pictures.
ya guys got this right
Always good updates, probably my most used app... but wonder why web threema has never been rolled out to iOS?
Great. Love it
Audio sounds great but there's two things that ruin the app for me first is no Bluetooth support, yea that Bluetooth headset will not record for this app, you can listen on Bluetooth but you can transmit using it, the second thing is no continuous playback, I'm in a group that posts a lot and I'm an interstate trucker so the idea of clicking on every message to listen to it is to distracting while driving and extremely time consuming, fix those two issues and I'm in for 5 stars
The application offers anonymity and security. It does not link to a phone number or email. It uses a separate key.
I love this app and love the focus on security. It's recently become one of my favorite apps and I want to convince more people to use it.
I am very security oriented and I enjoy this app. I do agree that no being able to backup more than 20MB is frustrating, but the privacy and security is worth the wait for that to be fixed. I also enjoy that this app can be separately locked unlike just about all of the other messengers out there. And I like that the accounts are NOT going to get purged if they are over a year old and have no activity.
Threema offers the best security of any encrypted messaging app available! Not only is it based in the pro-privacy country of Switzerland, but it has also been comprehensively audited by a reputable Swiss security firm and found to have no vulnerabilities. The other great thing that makes it unique is that only you have access to your private key and you can exchange public keys directly with friends and family, which proves the identity of your contacts. This robust authentication protects your communications to a greater degree than similar apps. For more confirmation, check out past Security Now podcasts for why Threema is the best messenger you can get. If you are looking for a messaging app that gets security right, look no further than Threema.
when you need security, this is the app to get.
I like this messenger for security, privacy and anonymity. One feature i want - message burn timer (like in Signal or Telegram)
App not connecting to internet on an iPhone 6S, running iOS 10.2, using T-Mobile. Please fix or send a solution.
Feel confident and comfortable with what your saying. Encryption works people. That's why so many want to stop it. Encryption apps might be banned from the App Store at some point so until then enjoy your freedom and say what you want with knowing only you and your intended recipient is viewing your info.
really nice and secure.
App delivers on its promises in every way and is well documented. Only real missing feature are voice and video calls.
I didnt put in my email or any other self identifying information. Im trying to send to someone elses ID who did the same. It appears you cannot do this. Am I wrong? If not please fix this. My situation is even more secure without self identifying information. Without this scenario I dont see that this app is necessarily more secure than other apps. As part of my profession I do computer security as well Update: I tried to add my contact by the text ID and it keeps saying request timed out. It also times out trying to verify the photo of the ID using my iphone on iOS 10. My friends ipad worked when adding me as a contact however. Then I sent a msg to my phone and it never showed up after a day now. App seems to have a few issues. Im very disappointed out of the gate
I can take a picture of my W2 and send it to my tax person without worrying that it could be lost in an email hack. I can tell family members my last four of my social so they can get information on our cellphones. I can get password from family that I am doing computer work for. Totally worth the money!
Good app and seem like good devs behind it, but refusal to allow open source inspection of code makes me a little less comfortable. A competitor Signal is open source and researchers found a bug and it was quickly patched. All software has bugs and it's sometimes hard for a dev team to catch all their own bugs. For all the very low ratings, understand this is not intended to compete with whatsapp or messenger. This is a serious app with a niche market and focus. The nature of it makes it inherently less convenient than those other mainstream apps.
You must make it beter
The app works fine and has many pros. It's not tied to a phone number which is nice. Though I'm unsure how much I can trust the app I'm sure it is good enough for general texting and photo sharing. Pros: 1) Pin to open the app (optional) 2) Read receipt 3) Very customizable 4) you can see when someone is responding. 5) Group messaging Cons: 1) No audio calling (VoIP) 2) Open up the code for security audits by everyone Until number two happens, have Signal on your phone for calls and more private conversations.
I love this app; I really do. Over the years I've worked on convincing friends to buy and install it and several did. When the Apple Watch was first released about a year ago, I patiently waited for this app to support it but now, a year later, I've decided to ditch Threema and just use Apple's Messages app. Zero support for the Apple Watch is a reason to look elsewhere.
Still no watch app. Zero stars next time.
I love threema so much that I use it as my primary messaging app. Unfortunately, not everyone has it yet. A suggestion might be to implement an interface we can receive and respond to non threema text messages (similar to Facebook messenger's recent update where we can respond to text messages from within the app!) that way we would not have to continue to switch between apps for conversations but i understand that that might compromise the security of the corporation because that's what threema is known for. I'll forever recommend this app to everyone looking for a secure messaging portal and I continue to look forward to your updates
Recently in group messages with participants in different time zones the message order seems to be scrambled. The newest message doesn't show up last but somewhere up.
I've been using Threema for about 5-months now. It definitely needs GIF support, but other than its an awesome way to send and receive encrypted messages free from prying eyes.
It says it costs 2.99 US to download, but was charged 3.27UD. Why?
Would give it 5 stars if messages could be set to auto destruct
My most used app and the best app there is. No one does anything more than text all day long. Threema enables you to do this while at the same time feeling secure that others are not reading the messages. Based in Switzerland, with real end to end security, and with all the features of the other messengers. Threema is my most used and favorite app.
Please update app fir apple watch
Secured, solid, but please change your icon. It's so 2008
